Metcons are hard

Metcons are hard. Here are a few thoughts on making them a little easier to handle:

1. Keep your head on straight: Stay focused on the task at hand. Don't let your mind wander too deep into your surroundings or extracurricular worries.
2. Bring it down a notch: When you rest to breathe and regain composure, tell your mind to step one rung lower on the ladder of pain and you will be ready to go again. Your brain is more tired than your body.
3. Treat others how you want to be treated: Use every chance you get to encourage your fellow soldiers. It will get your mind off the pain, in a productive and positive fashion.
4. Stay on your feet: When you finish a metcon, I encourage you to stay on your feet and walk it out. Laying down is a sign of weakness, staying upright tells your body, and more importantly your mind, "We have made it through the tough times, and we are stronger because of it."
