Recovering on off days

What's are good activities to do on a day off to improve recovery?

A great way to make sure your body is recovering productively instead of lagging is to do a medium length monostructural activity (long walk, super easy row, nice bike ride, swim & play in a pool, etc) then take some time to purposefully stretch or do some foam rolling. How you eat is going to vary greatly from person to person, that being said here are two tips. 1) Don't eat like crap. 2) Eat something. Without that "I just finished a workout hungry tummy" feeling some of us may skip meals. Your body needs good calories to recover. Lastly, one of the most important things we can all do on recovery days... SLEEP. GET SLEEP. By the end of the week do you lose a lot of sleep as work gets busy? Use the time you usually spend at the gym to take a nap. Seriously. Here are some thoughts on recovery from Greatist.
