Other Sports


What, if anything  is the best type of exercise that complements crossfit?  (Yoga, Nike Running Club, or Spinning -currently i do all of these randomly, but im thinking about just dedicating to one if it will make me improve overall in crossfit) and im open to suggestions...i think i really want to do boxing, always see it advertised in the elevator at the xfit building on 26th...thoughts?

If you are training to be competitive in CrossFit, then any exercise domain or sport, done occasionally and wisely (stop hurting yourself playing basketball, dudes,) will be good for you. We can look back to a seminal CrossFit article, fitness in one hundred words, and see: Regularly learn and play new sports. This will help us improve in general athleticism because of an increased number of variables that cannot be mimicked in the gym.

Also, occasionally performing other sports is helpful where are programming may have holes due to lack of equipment or space (i.e. cycling, swimming and biking.)

Now, it's the case for more of you that CrossFit is supplemental to something else (i.e. training for a marathon.) In which case you must look at CrossFit as the strength and conditioning program you are utilizing to be better at your true pursuit. Then we have to make sure CrossFit is supporting and not hindering your bigger goal.
